The history of the Ankara State Opera and Ballet Building traces back to architect Şevki Balmumcu, who won an international competition in 1933 to design an Exhibition House. This marked the initial phase of the building's construction. The second phase commenced in 1948 when architect Paul Bonatz transformed the structure into an Opera House, completing it in its present form. Since then, the building has undergone various renovations and updates to reflect its current state and functionality as a center for opera and ballet performances. BOMAR renovated the building in 1981, undertaking the design and construction works.
